The best beers from Audomar

Beer is a veritable institution in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region, and we’re not kidding around with such a serious subject…

The Pays de Saint-Omer and the Pays de Lumbres are fortunate to have several breweries and micro-breweries in their territory and to be a brewing land. Which beer is best depends on individual tastes and colors. Nevertheless, we’re going to help you by selecting 5 beers that may (or may not) give you some guidance. Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Drink in moderation.

Sons of Omer

OMER GILDED

The Beer Fanatics

We’re off to a gentle start with a reference to our favorite monk Omer. Omer A Doré is a beer brewed by four enthusiasts of zythology (a discipline whose field of study is the manufacture, tasting and culture of beer). This blonde ale is a triple ale with character that just might surprise you.

Brasserie Goudale

LA G

The vintage

We continue with an industrial behemoth. Goudale, this giant brewery, produces 1.9 million hectolitres a year and sells it to the four corners of the globe. G de Goudale is their vintage grand cru. It won Gold at the World Beer Awards 2021 and Silver in 2023. This is a blond with fruity notes of citrus peel and passion fruit. Perfect for an afternoon aperitif.

Brasserie du Funquet

LA FUNQUET HOPS

Spring in beer

A micro-brewery located in the small village of Escoeuilles, this beer, brewed in the traditional artisanal way, is a flowery blonde ale with a hoppy nose. It’s an ode to spring, singing birds and the return of the sun. Winner of a silver medal at the 2023 Lyon international competition, we’re apparently not alone in our appreciation of Funquet Hops.

Le Chaudron Helfic'

LA CURMI

The subtle spiced beer

Curmi is a beverage that’s going to change what you can taste when it comes to beer. Brewed by Le Chaudron Helfic’, an artisan microbrewery that likes to use original spices, Curmi is a red ale with a subtle blend of spices and few hops.

Brasserie de l'Abbaye de Clairmarais

THE QUADRUPLE

Monks' beer

You’re no doubt familiar with Triples, which are superior to table beers: so here’s the Quadruple, with its notes of caramel and chocolate, a strong brown beer that will delight your taste buds and your guests. Set in the magnificent setting of Clairmarais Abbey, this beer is created and produced in the pure tradition of the monks who lived there in ancient times.
