The SCRA Club is a training ground for the young people of Audomar, giving our children the chance to practice a complete and exciting team sport. The club is aimed at the very young, from elementary school onwards, to whom we pass on sporting and human values that are dear to our hearts. Jacobo Mantiñán Barral, a Spanish sportsman who has become a member of the Audomar community, is a portrait of Jacobo Mantiñán Barral, a key player in the SCRA Saint-Omer team.

Who are you?

“I’m Jacobo Mantiñán Barral, but in France they call me Manti, which is easier to pronounce than my real first name. I come from Galicia (Spain), a green region on the Atlantic coast, in the north of Portugal. “

How long have you been playing Rink-Hockey?

“Ever since I was 3 years old! My father was already playing Rink-Hockey, so he put skates on my feet. And I heard about the SCRA when I was very young, because a player from my hometown (La Coruña – Spain) was a goalkeeper there, and it was thanks to him that I discovered the club. “

SCRA Saint-Omer, a club that means a lot to you?

“In my career as a player, this is the club where I’ve developed the most. I’ve always felt very loved and valued here. When I arrived in 2016, I thought it was for a year or two… and finally in 2024 I’m still here! My wife is from here, my son was born here, Saint-Omer and I are attached for the rest of our lives. “

Tell us about your daily life?

“Alongside the club, I work in the technical services department of the Maison du Marais. I’m in charge of green spaces and a conservatory vegetable garden, where we grow old varieties of vegetables. The garden is open to visitors in the grounds of the Maison du Marais, and children love it! This job is perfect for me because I love working outdoors. Gardening is a real passion. It takes effort, but it’s always easier when you love what you’re doing. Then, of course, here at SCRA, there’s the daily training with the Elite team, preparation for matches, and every Wednesday I coach the club’s youngest members in the basics of skating. It’s a pretty hectic pace, but the SCRA and my work are my two passions.”

Meeting with Raymond JacquesSCRA Saint-Omer volunteer

Behind the scenes at SCRA Saint-Omer, a small army of volunteers organizes and prepares each meeting in the Brockus hall. We met Raymond Jacques, the emblematic figure of the volunteer team.

Who are you?

“I’m Raymond, an SCRA volunteer. I’m in charge of welcoming visitors, running the refreshment bar, catering and club house during matches. “

How long have you been volunteering here?

“Oh, for decades! I discovered the SCRA through friends. There’s a real family spirit among the volunteers here. Many are willing to give up their time to take part in the club’s work, and the conviviality is quickly felt – that’s what I like here! “

How is a pre-game organized?

“Before each match, we arrive early, so every volunteer knows what he or she has to do. Everyone’s on task: we prepare the sandwiches, set up the hall, clean the pitch and then… everything’s ready before the public arrives! Volunteers always take a quarter of an hour before the doors open to play a game of belote. It’s an essential moment of relaxation and conviviality for us.

What would you say to someone who's never been to the SCRA before?

“Come and discover! It’s a wonderful atmosphere! Just walk through the door once, and you’re sure to come back! And they often bring other friends. The proof is in the ever-growing number of visitors.

The best of Saint-Omer
