FAMILY OUTINGSCurrent exhibitions to discoverthis summer

Current exhibitions in the Saint-Omer area

Are you looking for ideas for outings to share with your family and friends? This summer there’s no shortage of opportunities to discover new horizons. Here are three suggestions, to try out according to your preferences, from Japanese theatrical art to industrial know-how and the secrets of our beloved Audomarois marshes… Happy discoveries! Tip 1: Japanese focus on “Noh and Kabuki” at the Musée Sandelin in Saint-Omer Theatre actors, along with courtesans, are the mainstay of Japanese printmaking. The most talented engravers have produced some of the finest works in the repertoire. Four prints from the collection will introduce you to four celebrities from the Edo period. They are an excellent complement to the display of Noh theatre masks from the Musée Guimet. Musée Sandelin, 14 rue Carnot, 62500 Saint-Omer – Contact: 03.21.38.00.94 Exhibition open until 16 November, Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 6pm. Closed on public holidays. Admission: €5.50 / €3.50 / Free. Free on Sundays. Tip 2: “Paper and cardboard professions: the Saint-Omer region is an expert in the field” at Enerlya This photo exhibition takes a look at the key stages in paper and cardboard production and the working environments of employees immortalised in our local paper industries. Starting with bales of recycled paper, the exhibition takes us right through to the transformation of paper into cardboard. Enerlya, 30 avenue Roland Huguet, 62560 Fauquembergues – Contact: 03.74.18.22.14 Free – Exhibition open until 16 November, Monday to Friday, 9am-12.30pm and 2pm-5.30pm (except public holidays) – Open to all. Tip no. 3: The Capiau Trail at the Maison du Marais, an original itinerary between heritage and nature Since 2020, you’ve been able to meet a very special person at the Maison du Marais: Yves Capiau. This market gardener is sharing his last day of work with you before a well-deserved retirement. Using tools and a host of anecdotes, this inveterate storyteller will introduce you to the trades and traditions that punctuate the lives of the inhabitants of the Audomarois marshlands and their immense biodiversity. But the tour was missing a key player: the marsh. Now it’s here! On an original, signposted and free trail, you’re invited to discover points of interest in the park, such as the mill and the conservatory vegetable garden. Designed as a walk accessible to all, the Capiau Trail combines video and audio elements with information to be read. This project is part of a strong desire to pass on information and raise awareness, with fun, educational and contemplative stages. La Maison du Marais, 36 avenue du Maréchal Joffre, 62500 Saint-Martin-lez-Tatinghem – Contact: 03.21.11.96.10 All publics – “Parcours Capiau” free of charge, available at any time thanks to a web application available by scanning QR Codes on site .
