The Quality Tourism Mark

The Pays de Saint-Omer Tourist Office has been committed to the Qualité Tourisme™ approach since 2016.

The Qualité Tourisme™ mark is the only State mark awarded to tourism professionals for the quality of their welcome and services.

To obtain the mark, the service provider must successfully follow a quality approach that complies with the requirements essential to your satisfaction. As a mark of confidence, the services provided are regularly subject to unannounced independent checks. This mark of recognition means you can choose tourist establishments that offer quality services with complete confidence.

Appellation d'Origine Protégée and Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée

The Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) and the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) are two labels that guarantee a very strong link between the product and its terroir.

The Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) designates a product in which all the production stages are carried out according to recognised know-how in the same geographical area, which gives the product its characteristics. It is a European sign that protects the name of the product throughout the European Union.

The Appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC) designates products that meet the criteria of the PDO and protects the name in France. It is a stage in the process of obtaining the European PDO label. It should be noted that the AOC logo may no longer be used on products that have been registered as AOP, with the exception of wines.

Protected Geographical Indication

The Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) identifies an agricultural product, raw or processed, whose quality, reputation or other characteristics are linked to its geographical origin. The PGI is also based on the concept of know-how. It recognises an existing product and gives it protection at both national and international level.

Traditional Speciality Guaranteed

The Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) corresponds to a product whose specific qualities are linked to a composition, manufacturing or processing methods based on tradition.

The particularity of the Traditional Speciality Guaranteed is defined by two elements: specificity and traditional aspect.

The aim is to define the traditional composition or production method of a product, without this necessarily being linked to its geographical origin.

The Traditional Speciality Guaranteed is based on an ancient, typical, national, regional or local custom, know-how or practice, but which may be carried out outside the country or region of origin or manufacture of the product.

The AB mark is based on the notion of respect for biodiversity and the preservation of natural resources.

Label Rouge

Label Rouge is a national label. It covers all the properties and characteristics of a product. Both food and non-food agricultural products can be awarded the Label Rouge. To do so, they must comply with specifications and be approved by an interministerial decree.

Label Rouge is based on the notion of superior quality compared with other similar products on the market.

The Label Rouge is open to all products, whatever their geographical origin (including outside the European Union).

Products with a PGI or TSG label are eligible for Label Rouge. However, it is not possible to display the Label Rouge and AOC-AOP signs.
