The Farm of Mont Vert

Jean-François Croquelois is the owner of the Ferme du Mont Vert, a family history and several generations since 1965, in Alquines, one of the highest points of the Pas-de-Calais, in the heart of the countryside, with the production of milk and beef but also the particularity of rearing since 1997 elaphe deer for terrines and confits.

A unique product in the region

The Mont Vert farm is one of 130 professional deer and fallow deer farms and the only one in Hauts-de-France, called cerviculture. A real know-how where everything is done on site. Moreover, the animals are raised in the open air and feed on the delicious grass of the high pastures. With a herd of 50 to 60 deer, the farm produces delicious terrines and succulent confits. In the heart of the Parc naturel des Caps et Marais d’Opale, it is a true haven of peace for these animals that flourish in this meadow bordered by an undergrowth.

An alpine air

Les Croquelois and the farm is a family history and a passion since 1965 and several generations. It is an 80-hectare farm that also produces milk and beef. With 150 cattle including about 40 dairy cows, Alquines is the ideal place with its high pastures. We are even at the highest point since a few hundred meters from the farm, at the place called Les Bullescamps, it is the highest point of the Pas-de-Calais with its green hills and meadows located at 212 meters above sea level, and the location of a geodesic chimney.

The priority is to be autonomous for the animals' food

If you want a quality product, whether it is milk or meat, it starts with the feeding of the animals. That’s why at the Ferme du Mont Vert, our animals enjoy the pastures from spring to fall.

A nice walk and animations

In addition to offering its products for sale at the farm or on the surrounding markets, the Ferme du Mont Vert is located on a pretty hike: Le circuit du mont Vert. This rather sporty 13 kilometer hike with 200 meters of difference in altitude allows you to admire the land and the relief through remarkable viewpoints. Little tip: stop in addition to the Ferme du Mont Vert at the café rando La Descente for a gourmet break.

The Ferme du Mont Vert also likes to transmit: it is regularly in the program of animations of the Community of Communes of the Pays de Lumbres with the hike at the farm with tasting of products or the semi-nocturne where you can attend the bellowing of the stag.
