The station: a station and a place for innovation

Visit, discover, create, at La Station. After several years of closure, Saint-Omer station has been given a facelift. The new building, entirely renovated, is dedicated to travelers of course, but also to artists, craftsmen, entrepreneurs… La Station, it’s not a station, it’s “a space for innovation with a station inside”.

The station

A cathedral station

Even empty, derelict and badly damaged by the weight of the years, the majestic building drew the eye. A “cathedral station” built in 1904 on the model of a 17th-century château… The stage was set. After 2 years of refurbishment, it has been restored to its former glory and is now resolutely forward-looking.

The hall is open and bright; the imposing ceiling height has been preserved for the salle des pas perdus. A pleasant place to buy train and bus tickets, or to take a break between 2 journeys.

The station

A place for innovation

If you’ve just arrived in the Pays de Saint-Omer, you can accustom your eyes to wonder by entering the micro-folie, a digital museum where you can admire on a large screen thousands of works exhibited in the region as well as in Paris and even internationally.

The first wing of the building houses the fablab: 3 floors accessible to the general public, professionals and artists with 3D printers, digital embroiderers, laser-cutting machines… Here, we learn, we test, we invent… If you’re looking for an original souvenir to bring back from Saint-Omer, you’ll find even better at the Station: a unique object, made by you!

The other wing and a space on the mezzanine are dedicated to coworking: you always work better in a pleasant place conducive to creativity! So there’s no doubt about the success of the incubator for innovative projects due to open in 2020.
