
Stephan Naji, a specialist in bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology, has headed the Recovery Unit of the Comonweealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) since 2020. He will present his team's work to recover and identify Commonwealth soldiers, the methods used and the impact of these missions on historical research, the memory of conflicts and humanitarian action.
The lecture will be preceded by a 30-minute thematic tour exploring one aspect of the temporary exhibition "Liberate, rebuild, hope: the challenges of 1945 in Nord-Pas-de-Calais", looking at the damage and then the reconstruction of the region.
