The Festival "Les rencontres des musiques anciennes du pays de Saint-Omer" returns this autumn with 3 new shows, presented in 8 concerts by Lyric & co, La Divine Comédie, and Il Buranello.
IL BURANELLO
Meet three little Cupids, sidekicks of Venus, the famous goddess of Love and Beauty. Abandoned by Adonis, she laments her fate and asks for the Cupids' support. This light-hearted, twirling show is ideal for touring the countryside and going out to meet local people to introduce them to Baroque music. In no time at all, the little Cupids set up their backdrop, put on their wings and set off to the rescue of the goddess Venus, in a funny and touching production by Denis Mignien, set to the music of the great Barbara Strozzi, the famous 17th-century Venetian composer! It's a tribute to 17th-century trestle theatre, a project that's out in the field, local, travelling and joyful, to get to the heart of the territories. Both funny and touching, this show will plunge you into a zany universe where the gods are as complicated as we are!
