You've always wondered what a spawning ground was and what it was used for. The year 2025 marks the end of work to create two spawning grounds, one at the Ballastières d'Aire-sur-la-Lys and the second alongside the communal pond at Éperlecques.
As part of WWD (World Wetlands Day), the Pas-de-Calais Federation for Fishing and the Protection of Aquatic Environments is offering a guided tour of the Éperlecques pond, showing all the work that has been carried out in recent years.
We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 11 February 2026 to learn more about the pond and why spawning grounds are essential to aquatic biodiversity.
The event is open to anyone with a keen interest in fishing, but also in ecology, because protecting aquatic environments also means protecting the fishing of tomorrow.
Open to adults and accompanied minors
Rain- and mud-resistant clothing and boots are recommended.
Organised by the Pas-de-Calais Federation for Fishing and the Protection of Aquatic Environments
