Erik Chevalier's artistic approach and research are essentially based on the creation of audiovisual devices. In his works and installations, Erik Chevalier explores the status and uses of the moving image and how it is perceived.
Committed to encounters, he regularly sets up in public spaces, inviting viewers to a place where they are unlikely to encounter a work of art. His site-specific installations aim to recreate a 'sense of place', whether in a village square or a modest school playground. They initiate a real physical encounter with the visitor, where his wanderings, his voice and even his shadow are always welcome.
