When he was just twelve years old, the prodigious Mozart conceived a work full of charm and subtlety entitled Bastien and Bastienne. Inspired by a work by Jean-Jacques Rousseau, this piece tells the story of a tumultuous love affair between a shepherd and a shepherdess, Bastien and Bastienne, advised by the village magician, Colas Mirabelle Ordinaire transposes this opera to a contemporary funfair where onlookers come to shoot the cardboard wolves on the shooting range and the fickle Bastien becomes the mechanic in charge of maintaining the stands.
