We are particularly proud to announce that the Pays de Saint-Omer Tourist and Convention Bureau has now been officially accredited to cater for all four categories of disability!
This accreditation recognises our day-to-day commitment and the efforts we have made to ensure our destination and visitor facilities are accessible to everyone, without exception. Achieving this accreditation is the result of genuine teamwork in terms of facilities, adapting our information resources and staff training.
KEY STAGES OF THE PROCESS:
- Self-assessment and adaptation: A thorough analysis followed by the ongoing adaptation of our visitor areas (adapted signage, public accessibility register, specific equipment).
- Staff training: Raising awareness and providing training for all staff, including the induction of seasonal staff at the start of each season.
- External assessment: A thorough on-site visit carried out by a pair of specialist assessors: Corinne Codron (Pas-de-Calais Tourisme) and Isabelle Derain (APF France Handicap).
- This initiative forms part of a long-term commitment that has been ongoing for many years (we first received certification back in 2014). Rather than discussing specific processing times, it is more appropriate to highlight our ongoing commitment to improvement and inclusion.

The Pays de Saint-Omer Tourist and Convention Bureau is the sixth tourist office in the Hauts-de-France region to be certified across all four categories of disability ( mobility, visual, hearing and intellectual).
Accessibility is ensured throughout the entire visitor experience, from access to the building right through to the provision of clear and accessible tourist information designed to maximise independence. As a result of this in-depth work, we can now offer a high-quality, inclusive and welcoming tourist experience to all our visitors.
