The Espace Culturel Area is a cultural facility located in Aire-sur-la-Lys, which offers a varied programme of films and shows throughout the year, accessible to all.
The CAPSO cinema offers public screenings the first week of every month from September to June, at a single price of €4. Three films (spread over 5 to 8 screenings) are shown each month, with particular attention paid to the diversity of audiences and films selected.
Please note that the cinema does not take bookings and does not offer pre-sales (tickets can only be purchased at the cinema 45 minutes before the screening).
Every summer, the Area also organises 4 free open-air cinema screenings in the communes of the CAPSO. The Area hosts numerous school screenings and takes part in the "Ecoles et Cinéma", "Collège au Cinéma" and "Lycéens et Apprentis au Cinéma" image education schemes.
Finally, the structure offers and supports a number of projects, highlights and festivals: CinéSoupe, Les rencontres cinématographiques de CORENS, Petits Films pour Petits Bouts, etc.
From September to May, Area also offers a programme of shows (concerts, theatre, puppets, circus, etc.) open to the general public for as little as €5 per person. Around thirty performances are organised for a wide range of audiences, with a special focus on young audiences from the age of 6 months and schoolchildren in collaboration with La Barcarolle, as part of the Artistic and Cultural Education Programme (PEAC) run by the Communauté d'Agglomération du Pays de Saint-Omer (CAPSO).
In addition to the shows it puts on, Area takes part in the creation of shows in the Hauts-de-France region, through residencies and co-productions, and organises a range of activities for the public (raising awareness of the show, debates, public rehearsals, visits, etc.).
The theatre workshop at the CAPSO conservatory (CRD) has a dedicated space where young people aged 8 to 18 can learn and improve their theatrical skills. Numerous other cultural events take place at the Area, in partnership with CAPSO's Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental (CRD), the Bibliothèque d'Agglomération (BAPSO), CAPSO's Actions Culturelles department and other community services.
