With a population of 3,740, Eperlecques is best known today for its Blockhaus. But nearly a thousand years ago, it was the Château de Meullemotte that stood proudly at the heart of the village. A defensive element, it was stormed by the English during the Hundred Years' War and by the French during the Franco-Spanish Wars. Eight other châteaux were built in the commune. Several suffered in the two World Wars. As for the archers' brotherhood, it has been a testament to the village's vigorous sporting and community life for 400 years.

Jeremy Révillon holds a doctorate in history and is a full member of the Société Académique des Antiquaires de la Morinie.
He is the author of several books: Tilques, d'hier à aujourd'hui in 2020, Houlle d'hier à aujourd'hui in 2022, and Eperlecques d'hier à aujourd'hui in 2024.
