Situated at the foot of Saint-Omer cathedral, the Maison du Patrimoine (Heritage Centre) invites you to discover the architectural, heritage, urban and landscape treasures of the Saint-Omer Pays d'art et d'histoire through a fun and immersive scenography. On the ground floor, the exhibition presents the geology, geography and landscapes of the area, and details its history from prehistory to the 20th century. On the first floor, an architect's studio invites visitors to decipher the different types of heritage that exist in the area and the major stages in its development. Particular attention is paid to the development of water resources over the centuries, the industrialisation of towns and countryside from the 19th century onwards, and landscape and urban changes since the post-war period.
