Description

This tour invites you to trace the radical changes reflected in the Sandelin Museum’s collections. You will begin by exploring the section dedicated to the Japanese collections, focusing on the Meiji Restoration from 1868 onwards: the dramatic transformations experienced by Japan were also reflected in the arts through Western influence. Come and admire, in particular, two stunning paintings that have recently returned from restoration. The theme of revolution could not be explored without reference to the Revolution of 1789, but this time through a grisaille by Boilly, with its gentle and intimate charm. The artistic revolution represented by Caravaggism in the 17th century will also be explored, as will the revolutions that shaped global industry in the aftermath of the Second World War, through one of the region’s crowning glories. FREE – Ages 15 and over – Booking required via the Sandelin Museum: online ticketing, 03 21 38 00 94, [email protected]
